Cranberry Nantucket Pie and Some sewing

Yummy! I made this cranberry Nantucket pie last night. I found the recipe on Pioneer Woman's blog before Thanksgiving, but just got around to making it. Unfortunately, I might eat it all without help. A cup of afternoon coffee and a piece of pie sound great right now.
Today I worked on another messenger bag. I listed it in my etsy store too. I have been working hard to put new items in my stores. It would be great to have a few sales before Christmas.
I think I should work making something that would function more as a purse, but include the mixing of coats, floral and vintage fabrics. I think a "regular" purse might be more popular?

Take a look at this etsy treasury! One of my Texas Ware sets is for sale on etsy and it was included in this treasury.

'I love TexasWare vintage melmac and melamine give it up for TEXAS' by RetroChalet

TEXAS WARE, the original "garbage bowls" donned many kitchens....perhaps the largest selling melmac! , Plastics Manufacturing Company of Dallas, Texas was the "big boy" in melmac production, one source told me that "they sold more melmac in one Sears seasonal catalog than my company sold in one year..:".Many sellers even think that the word "texas ware" is another name for melmac! From schools to restaurants, this stuff was neverending!

When someone is looking for a particular bag I want them to know that they can look at
bringmealong.etsy.com and know that they will find the kind of bag they have been looking to buy.
I finally made just the bag I would like to stick with. It is more of a bag than a purse. I have used mine as a purse and I like it, but I am hoping to make a similar bag without the flap which would be more likely used as a purse.
The other consistent part of my bags is that I use upcycled coats and jackets in most bags. I love
the idea of being green and reusing discarded items, but I also love the way they look. I also use
vintage fabrics when I can. Mixing the fabrics together to make a one of a kind bag is where the creativity comes in.
I hope one day others will enjoy my creativity too!

Back at it

I started this blog hoping I would post on a regular basis (which to me means at least every few days). So far not so good.
I should be posting more since I had an unfortunate loss of employment. Some of you might have heard about the galleria mall in Roseville and it's untimely "accident". Long story short a large portion of the mall was severely damaged by a fire and will have to be demolished and rebuilt. I worked in a retail clothing store which lost everything. I hope to one day return to work for the same store, but estimates for the rebuild are between 1-2 years.
Needless to say, I have been thinking more about my sewing, crafting and thrifting. The felted scarf in the photo above is something I made last year. It was intended to be a garland for a village of hand crafted houses, but somehow I ended up wearing it. I cannot believe how many times I was stopped and asked about it. I have since made a few and listed them in one of my etsy shops.
Hopefully with the additional time on my hands I will continue crafting and posting more often.

I had a good day thrifting. I have always wanted a little bit of fiestaware, and today I found some! I was not sure if I would keep it or sell it, but I have decided that I would like to use these bright, fun dishes. I guess I will have to look at selling some of my other dishes.
I also found a few dresses. One vintage and the other a silk number from Talbots.
All in all a good day.
I have also decided that I am going to start using my original etsy store to sell vintage items and my new store to sell the bags, purses etc that I create and sew. It finally feels like I have a direction and a few goals.

Tonight I have finally connected my etsy store and this new little blog with matching
banners and names. Something that has been on my to-do list for quite some time.

I have absolutely no idea if anyone will ever find this little blog of mine, but I am hoping it will help build a little business and keep track of my life at the same time.
